Job Description

We are seeking a Government Relations Associate to support the legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts of a state and federal government relations firm. With a client base spanning multiple industries, the firm delivers strategic guidance and representation on a wide range of policy issues. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain firsthand experience in government affairs at both the state and federal levels.

This role requires strong research, communication, and organizational skills, along with a professional demeanor and a genuine interest in public policy and advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the state and federal levels.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, policy briefings, and client updates.
  • Support scheduling, logistics, and coordination for meetings with government officials
  • and stakeholders.
  • Draft memos, letters, and advocacy materials.
  • Conduct policy research and analysis on client-relevant issues.
  • Attend legislative hearings, committee meetings, and industry events as needed.
  • Represent the firm at external events, conferences, and meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact confidently with clients, lawmakers, and stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%, including overnight travel as required.
  • Capitol Hill, state legislative, or campaign experience is a plus.

Compensation

  • Starting at $50,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Travel expenses covered and benefits package available.
  • Performance-based growth opportunities within the firm.
