The position
We are hiring one full-time Finance Manager to join the growing Finance team in Portland, ME. This is a key role supporting the firm’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. Your responsibilities
The Finance Manager plays an essential role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the firm’s financial operations. This role leads all day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and audit support functions. In addition, the Finance Manager provides financial insights to senior leadership and supports strategic decision making. The scope of responsibilities include:
· Leading all accounting and payroll processes, including accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, and bi-weekly payroll.
· Overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations, including bank accounts, fixed assets, and lease accounting.
· Leading the annual audit and tax preparation processes and significantly contributing to year-end financial work.
· Developing and managing firm-level budgets, multi-year forecasts, financial dashboards, and ad hoc reporting.
· Contributing to business intelligence initiatives and key performance indicator tracking.
· Identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement to enhance financial and operational processes.
· Maintenance of the Company’s financial management software.
· Supporting the CFO and Director of Finance with financial planning and strategic projects.
· Providing mentorship and potential supervision to Finance Associates.
Your skills
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is required; CPA or postgraduate degree is strongly preferred.
· Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance; experience in a wealth management or professional services firm is preferred.
· Advanced understanding of accounting principles and operational finance.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills; experience with QuickBooks Online, ADP Workforce Now, and Power BI (or similar platform).
· Familiarity with portfolio accounting systems such as Tamarac or Advent.
· Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and professional demeanor.
· Prior supervisory or leadership experience is strongly preferred.
